Requirements ----------------- The game actualy works on Windows 98/Me/2000/XP. DirectX 8.1 is required A 32bits 3d Graphix Card is required The game will play about 60 FPS on 1.5 Ghz and higher processors, you can experience lower rates on slower processors. Don't expect the game to work perfectly even if you fit into the required specifications. IV. Game -------- The idea was to create a 3d arcade game with an 'old fashion' look, based on star wars films. The game represents the epic battle of Endor (Return of the Jedi), between the rebellion fleet and the empire. It has 6 stages that play continuously. You will fight against TIE Fighters, TIE Interceptors, Star Destroyers, and finally, Super Star Destroyer 'Executor'. In the radar, the WHITE dot is Lando, the PINK dot is Wedge, the RED dots are the rebels and the GREEN dots are the empire. the squares are the cruisers, when they blink is that their damage is over 90%. the 'wings:XX' label in the GUI indicate the wing mates left that are fighting with you (you included). The minimum will be 3: Lando,Wedge and you. Laser: you have 3 modes, 1 laser at a time, twice, and four way laser. You change it with X key. Torpedo: you can use torpedos to destroy enemies. You enable/disable the torpedos with Z key you win when: - you destroy 'Executor' in stage 6 (you have 2 ways to destroy it, shoot it until the damage level reaches 100% or, like in the movie, crash your x-wing into the control bridge, but wait until it has no energy towers and a damage level higher than 50%) you loose when: - you waste your lives. - the falcon is destroyed (Lando will warn you when he needs real cover). - Wedge's X-wing is destroyed (Wedge will warn you when he needs real cover). - Mon Calamari (Home One) is destroyed. helps: - your shield will have a slow but constant auto-repair mode. - you get an extra torpedo each 5 destroyed TIEs. - you get an extra live each 100 destroyed TIEs. - cheat: you can enable it (100 extra lives) if you 'use the force' against the TIEs from the begining. ;-P advices: - use your torpedos for the star destroyers energy pods (if you can). - you can't destroy a star destroyer if it still has an active energy pod. - when a new TIE wave rides in, you better don't go rambo stile or you won't last long (collisions). - stay near the big spacecrafts, they give you cover, and your mission is to protect them. - in half of stage 4 the death star shield will go down (Han Solo did it!), lando (Falcon) and Wedge (X-Wing) will leave towards the death star so you don't have to take care of them anymore. (don't follow them because... that's not your mission!) - Destroy the Star Destroyers Turbolasers, or they'll increase the armada damage very fast. - all rebel spacecrafts have turbolasers, the TIEs will try to destroy them too. They give you cover, so chase the TIEs that are attacking turbolasers, before than those that are attacking the spacecraft. - If you are good at aiming change laser to mode4 ('X' key), you can wipe out a TIE with one shot. V. Keys -------- the initial keys are: X-Wing control: mouse / joystick (basic implementation) Laser: Left button Torpedo: Right button Laser Mode: X Enable/disable Torpedo: Z Increase boost: Q Decrease boost: A Menu/Pause: ESC VI. Notes ---------- Battle of Endor and Battle of Yavin share the TrueVision3D Dlls so if you have installed both, and uninstall one of them, you could experiece some problems executing the installed one (maybe an activeX error). you will have to reinstall it. Be shure to uninstall previous versions before installing the game. don't complain if the game doesn't work perfect, it's free, man! May the force be with you!
